FREEDOM Project

In vitro effects of mixtures representative of dietary exposure to endocrine disruptors
Funded by ANSES.

The FREEDOM (eFfect of dietaRy Exposure to Endocrine DisruptOr Mixture) project, coordinated by Dr Hélène Moche (Toxicology Laboratory, IPL), aims to study the in vitro effects of mixtures representative of dietary exposure to potentially endocrine disrupting substances (EDs). The main mixtures of potentially ED substances to which the French are exposed have been identified according to the different types of diet in the infant and adult populations. The qualitative and quantitative composition of representative mixtures was determined by exposure modelling. The effects of the selected mixtures on the action and synthesis of oestrogens, androgens and thyroid hormones are currently being studied in in vitro models.
